Field of Greens vs Balance of Nature: Which is the Better Product?

Brickhouse powdered greens containerBalance of Nature Fruits & Veggies and Brickhouse Nutrition Field of Greens are premium whole food supplements designed to address nutritional deficiencies in the standard American diet.

There are a lot of differences — in what’s in them, in how they are made, in how much they cost, in where they are sold, and in how you take them.

I have used Field of Greens powder myself and personally like the taste of it and how it makes me feel. However, in this comparison I will be as objective as possible and base my conclusions on the ingredients, pros and cons, dosages, monthly costs, customer reviews and potential side effects.

What Is Brickhouse Nutrition Field of Greens?

BrickHouse Nutrition is a USA-based supplement company focused on athletes and fitness enthusiasts. Field of Greens is the name of their popular superfood product designed to provide a range of vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients from whole foods.Holding FieldofGreens

This green powder is made with freeze-dried and USDA organic fruits, vegetables and herbs. BrickHouse Nutrition says there are no extracts, fillers or synthetic additives in Field of Greens, and that it is gluten-free, soy-free and vegan.

You take a 10-gram scoop of the product mixed into a beverage of your choice and there are 30 servings in each tub.

What Is Balance of Nature?

Balance of Nature makes nutritional products from freeze-dried and powdered produce. Fruits & Veggies is their flagship supplement with 31 different ingredients. The business founder and formula creator is Dr. Douglas Howard.

The company says its product is made from vine-ripened produce and is 100% natural, third-party tested, gluten-free, non-GMO, and with no chemical additives.

Balance of Nature is sold in twin containers, 1 for Fruits and 1 for Veggies, with 90 capsules in each. You are supposed to have 6 caps a day, 3 of each, for a full month’s supply.

Ingredients Comparison

Both Balance of Nature and BrickHouse Nutrition claim their products are made from only powdered produce with no additives or fillers. How do their different ingredients stack up though in a direct comparison?

Balance of Nature Supplement Facts

On Balance of Nature’s website they list the following ingredients for their Fruits & Veggies product in 2026:

  • Proprietary Whole Fruit Maintain Blend: Aloe Vera, Apple, Banana, Blueberry, Cherry, Cranberry, Grape, Grapefruit, Lemon, Mango, Orange, Papaya, Pineapple, Raspberry, Strawberry and Tomato
  • Proprietary Whole Veggie Maintain Blend: Broccoli, Cabbage, Carrot, Cauliflower, Cayenne Pepper, Celery, Garlic, Kale, Onion, Shiitake Mushroom, Soybean, Spinach, Sweet Potato, Wheatgrass and Zucchini

Which Ingredients List is Higher in Nutrition?

Any objective comparison would conclude that Field of Greens powder has far more high-nutrient superfoods, than Balance of Nature’s Fruits & Veggies.

Spinach, parsley, kale and barley grass at the start of this supplement’s Organic Greens Blend are all vitamin and mineral-rich ingredients. As are the beetroot, strawberry, raspberry and blueberry as early additions to the Organic Antioxidant Reds Blend.

All of the herbs in the Organic Metabolic Blend are potent, even in smaller amounts. While the 2 grams of organic prebiotic inulin fiber in BrickHouse Nutrition’s formula can help to improve gut health with regular use.

Balance of Nature ingredients list does have some nutritious fruits and vegetables, like cranberry, blueberry, broccoli, kale, wheatgrass and shiitake mushrooms, but it’s let down by too many common and lower nutrient additions, such as apple, banana, grape, orange, tomato and onion.

Dr. Howard has also added raw soybean to the Veggies formula. This is a strange decision when some customers deliberately avoid this controversial ingredient, and most supplement makers go out of their way to show on their labels that they are soy-free.

Field of Greens Pros and Cons

Pros

  1. Nutritious organic ingredients with spinach, parsley, beetroot, strawberry, kale, barley grass, wheat grass, raspberry and blueberry as standouts.
  2. Contains herbs to boost metabolism, like ginger, licorice, turmeric and green tea powder.
  3. 2 grams of prebiotic inulin per serve to improve gut bacteria and digestive health.
  4. Many different flavor options, such as wildberry, lemon lime, charged, strawberry lemonade and raw, though I personally prefer the original formula.
  5. Much larger 10-gram serving size versus Balance of Nature, yet around $27 cheaper for a monthly supply.
  6. 60-day 100% money-back guarantee. BrickHouse Nutrition even says they will pay for postage if you want a refund.

Cons

  1. Powder rather than capsules, which can be more time-consuming to take, though customer feedback is mainly positive on taste.
  2. Whilst considered a beneficial prebiotic, inulin can initially cause some gas in sensitive people.
  3. Cannot be ordered from Amazon, Walmart, Costco or other retailers. Field of Greens is only available here on the company’s website. The code SUPERFOODS gives a further reduction in the cost.

Pros and Cons of Balance of Nature

Pros

  1. Dr. Howard’s formula has many healthy fruits and berries like blueberry, cranberry, strawberry, papaya and pineapple. As well as vegetables like broccoli, wheatgrass, kale, spinach, garlic and shiitake mushrooms.
  2. Ingredients are freeze-dried and harvested at peak ripeness to retain the most antioxidants and other nutrients.
  3. No taste issues and some people prefer the convenience of capsules over mixing up powders.Balanced nature twin tubs

Cons

  1. Too many average additions, such as apple, orange, banana, tomato, onion and grape. These are commonly eaten foods that customers shouldn’t be paying top dollar for, especially when not organic.
  2. Raw soybean in the Veggies formula — an ingredient with potential adverse effects that some people are allergic to.
  3. Balance of Nature’s capsules provides a much lower amount of superfoods per dose versus Brickhouse Nutrition’s green powder.
  4. Fruits & Veggies costs $89.95 for a 30 day supply. That’s quite expensive compared to both Field Of Greens and comparable alternative products.
  5. Charges for delivery and no returns unless you subscribe for ongoing deliveries.
  6. A lot of negative feedback and customer complaints online. There’s more on if Balance of Nature is a scam here. It’s well worth reading that article before you consider buying it.

Dosage, Directions and Taste

Field of Greens directions is to take one 10-gram scoop a day mixed in a drink of your choice. Breakfast would be the best time for this.

It’s also beneficial to have some healthy fatty acids at the same time as many of the nutrients in this product are fat-soluble. For this reason, I like to add it to a morning smoothie with an almond or coconut milk base.

Personally, I found the taste of Field of Greens Original to be better than most other green powders when I tried it, even mixed just in water. It had a slight green tea and melon flavor with a sweetness from the stevia and mixed up easily with no graininess.Trying the Brick House green powder

Brickhouse Nutrition also offers other flavors like raw, wildberry, lemon-lime, and strawberry lemonade if any of those sound more to your liking. Generally, consumer feedback on taste for this product is majority positive, though occasionally people complained it was a bit sweet for them.

Balance of Nature directions is to take 3 of the Fruits and 3 of the Veggies capsules together each day. Ideally have them with breakfast or lunch for better nutrient absorption and to avoid any issues from taking them on an empty stomach.

Being capsules there should be no problems with taste, though some purchasers on Amazon complain about the size of them and difficulty getting them down.

Field of Greens Side Effects and Precautions

BrickHouse Nutrition’s website doesn’t list any side effects from this green powder. Though as mentioned in the pros and cons section, some people can be sensitive to the prebiotic inulin and experience digestive issues like bloating and gas. These negative side effects can usually be alleviated with a lower dose and shouldn’t last long.

One concern that some customers have is the State of California’s warning on the supplement label for caffeic acid. This is a type of phenolic acid found in many different natural foods. If you’ve ever had a cup of coffee you would have been exposed to far more caffeic acid than found in this green powder.

Balance of Nature Precautions and Side Effects

The ingredients in Fruits & Veggies shouldn’t cause side effects for the majority of people, though some negative consumer reviews complain about heartburn or an upset stomach after taking this supplement.

One potential concern is the raw soybean in the Veggies product. Whilst a small amount, people who are allergic to soy should obviously not take Balance of Nature.

Cost Comparison

Field of Greens retails for $69.95 on the BrickHouse Nutrition website, though you can get a 10% discount on that with the code SUPERFOODS used at the checkout.

By comparison, Balance of Nature Fruits & Veggies costs $89.95, on both the company’s website and on Amazon. Veggie vitamin container

You can get it for a lower price if you “Subscribe & Save” on balanceofnature.com. Keep in mind though that this signs you up for ongoing monthly deliveries. Many people on online review sites, like Better Business Bureau, have complained about problems canceling these shipments and payments once started.

At a purchase price of $89.95 for Balance of Nature versus $62.95 for Field of Greens, there’s $27 saving to be made by choosing BrickHouse Nutrition’s green powder.

Where to Get Balance of Nature and Field of Greens?

Balance of Nature Fruits & Veggies is available on the company’s own website, Walmart and on Amazon.

You can only get Field of Greens from the company’s website. It’s not available at Amazon, Costco, Walmart, or any other online retailers. Unfortunately, this business also doesn’t deliver internationally, though there is no charges for delivery within the USA.

If you’re in America and would like to try BrickHouse Nutrition’s superfood powder you can find it here on their website. There’s also an extra 10% off with the code SUPERFOODS at the checkout. Customer Reviews for Field of Greens

Since BrickHouse Nutrition’s product aren’t sold on Amazon, consumer feedback is mainly found on the company’s website. Obviously no business is going to publish too many negative reviews.

Searching for impartial customer feedback I checked the Trustpilot site. Here are some of the positive ratings for Field of Greens I found on there:Field og greens powdered superfoods

  • “As an endurance athlete who struggles to eat my daily fruits and veggies, fields of greens has been a terrific find! I’ve tried other fruits and greens beverages in the past, but what really sold me on was the flavor and the fact that it’s all organic goodness.”
  • “I used it every day and truly believe that it has helped me feel better on a day to day basis.”
  • “I love the convenience of getting all my fruits & veggies with one scoop. I don’t think I could eat my daily allowance of organic F&V for the same price as this product.”

The was only 1 negative customer rating out of 26 on Trustpilot:

  • “It took almost 2 weeks to receive the first order and the product is way too sweet for me.”

Consumer Feedback for Balance of Nature Fruits & Veggies

There are over 2,400 customer ratings for Balance of Nature on Amazon USA and obviously there will be a wide variety of opinions. Positive feedback is usually glowing with statements like these:

  • “My husband and I both take these. Can’t believe the difference they’ve made in our energy level, memory and the way we feel in general.”
  • “I definitely feel a great difference in my energy and strength. It also reduces some of the stress that I was feeling and in turn reduces headaches.”

Negative feedback usually focuses on the high price point and customers feeling the product made no difference to them personally:

  • “I have been taking the Balance of Nature Fruit and Vegetables 3 times a day for almost a month now with NO noticeable difference in energy, sleep, awareness, nothing.”
  • “I don’t think taking these vitamins did much for my overall well being. Nothing. My hubby included. For the price I would have thought we would have felt something.”Fruit container

Field of Greens versus Balance of Nature: The Verdict

Balance of Nature is a far more popular product than Field of Greens. This is mainly due to their much higher advertising budget, rather than their ingredients though.

Brickhouse Nutrition’s powdered greens have more nutrient-rich superfoods, a much higher dosage per serve, and a significantly lower monthly cost than Balance of Nature. It’s clearly the better choice if you are happy to mix up a powder.

It is only available here on the company’s website where you can see all the different flavors and reviews from verified customers. Using the code SUPERFOODS gives a further reduction and there’s no cost for shipping.

The only reason I can see to take Balance of Nature versus Field of Greens would be if you really believe in the company’s production methods and are only interested in taking capsules. In that case, you may also want to compare Simply Nature’s Promise or other lower-priced Fruits & Veggies alternatives.

In my opinion, based on over 10 years researching superfoods, in a direct comparison, Brickhouse Nutrition Field of Greens is clearly a nutritionally superior and better-value choice than Balance of Nature.

I’ve been using BofNature for a number of months and have not seen any great improvements; this being borne out by my blood tests over the same period of time. I was hoping for a bit of extra energy or something but I do see any improvement at all. I’m disappointed again.

Hi Donna. I agree. Balance of Nature is any expensive product to not be getting results from it. I honestly think you’d get much better value and results from Field of Greens. Generally green powders deliver much more ‘bang for your buck’ than capsules.
