Texas Superfood vs Balance of Nature: Which One is Better for You?

Ballance of Nature or Texas SFBalance of Nature Fruits & Veggies and Texas Superfood capsules are popular nutritional products made from powdered whole foods. Both are formulated by doctors, manufactured in America, and they have the same daily dosages and similar price points.

What are the differences between these two superfood supplements though? This detailed guide will compare their ingredients, pros and cons, monthly costs, side effects, customer reviews and consumer ratings.

There’s also an overall verdict on their effectiveness, my personal experience, 2 cheaper alternatives and where to get them for less. Let’s get started.

What is Texas Superfood?

Texas Superfood is a nutritional supplement created by Dr. Dennis Black. It is made from 55 naturally-ripened vegetables, greens, herbs, fruits and berries. The formula also contains digestive enzymes and probiotics for intestinal health.

It comes in either a large bottle of 180 capsules or a 180-gram bag of green powder. The company says all Texas Superfood products are non-GMO, gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free, and with no added sugar. It’s also made in America and comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

What is Balance of Nature?

Fruits & Veggies by Balance of Nature is a blend of 31 different freeze-dried and powdered fruits and vegetables formulated by Dr. Douglas Howard. It is only sold in twin containers with 90 capsules in each, one for Veggies and one for Fruits.

The Balance of Nature company says this supplement is made from 100% vine-ripened produce, non-GMO, gluten-free, and without fillers or chemical additives.

I’ve taken the Fruits & Veggies product myself for a month. You can read more about my experiences with it in this honest review of Balance of Nature.Jim Dillan holding Balance of Nature bottles for Texas Superfoods comparison

Which Ingredients List is Higher in Nutrition?

Based just on the ingredients, Texas Superfood capsules are clearly the more nutritionally potent supplement when compared with Balance of Nature pills.

Proprietary formulas list ingredients on their supplement facts labels in order of weight. So the first additions shown are the most important in any evaluation.

The nutrition facts panel for Texas Superfood starts with spirulina, black elderberry, goji berry, chlorella, broccoli, fenugreek, spinach and blueberry. These are all high-nutrient superfoods rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other phytochemicals.

Balance of Nature supplement facts panel is more difficult for customers to analyze. This is due to the confusing and repetitive way they display their ingredients in various blends.

In my personal assessment, tomato, orange, raspberry and apple would be at the top of the Fruits blend. While broccoli, carrot, garlic and kale would be high up in the Veggies pills. This also corresponds with the smell and taste of these capsules when I opened them up to try tasting them.

Texas Superfood Capsules Pros and Cons

Pros

  1. Texas Superfood pills contain a greater variety of nutritionally potent berries, herbs, greens, vegetables and fruit than Balance of Nature. Their formula also has a probiotic complex and a blend of 9 digestive enzymes.
  2. Some (though not all) of the superfoods in this product are organic, such as wheatgrass, apple cider vinegar, mulberry, tart cherry, turmeric, oat grass and moringa. Balance of Nature has stated on its website that its ingredients are not organic.
  3. Texas Superfood capsules and powder are both cheaper than Balance of Nature Fruits & Veggies for the same serving size and 30-day supply. They also offer free shipping and a 30-day guarantee here on their website.

Cons

  1. With this many ingredients, those listed lower down on the supplement facts label will be in much smaller amounts. For instance, I would not expect there to be anywhere near as much pomegranate or parsley versus spirulina or black elderberry in these superfood pills.
  2. While Texas Superfood is less expensive than Balance of Nature, it is still far from low-cost. If you’re on a budget then consider Daily Fruit & Veggies by Double Wood. It has a strong ingredients list, with 49 different superfoods, and the same 180 capsules, yet it’s available for under $20 here, even less with the multipacks. Texas Super Foods container

Pros and Cons of Balance of Nature Pills

Pros

  1. The Fruits & Veggies formula does have healthy additions like cranberry, blueberry, strawberry, papaya, broccoli, kale, wheatgrass, spinach, garlic and shiitake mushrooms.
  2. According to the Balance of Nature company, all the produce used in their products is vine-ripened, picked at peak ripeness, and freeze-dried to retain the most vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other nutrients within the capsules.

Cons

  1. For a premium-priced whole food supplement, there are far too many commonly eaten fruit and vegetables in these blends. Customers shouldn’t have to pay such high prices for small amounts of banana, apple, orange, tomato, onion and grape.
  2. The Veggies pills contain raw soybean. Soy is a controversial food additive that contains anti-nutrients and some people are allergic to. Most supplement companies go out of their way to market their products as soy-free, so it’s a strange addition to Dr. Howard’s formula.
  3. Compared to Texas Superfood, Balance of Nature is more expensive, has less potent ingredients and is not soy-free. It also doesn’t have free shipping or a money-back guarantee, unless you sign up for an ongoing subscription.

Cost Comparison

Texas Superfood is available here with an extra 15% off using the code SFP23. That brings the monthly cost down to $68. This works out to $2.26 per 6 capsule daily dose.

You can get Balance of Nature for $89.95 on their website at balanceofnature.com. Keep in mind there is also an extra charge for shipping unless you sign up as a ‘preferred customer’ for $24.95. On a daily basis, a 6-capsule serving of Fruits & Veggies costs $2.99.

What’s Better and Cheaper Than Texas Superfood or Balance of Nature?

American nutritional company Double Wood have a Fruits and Veggies supplement that is serious competition for both Balance of Nature and Texas Superfood.

It has many high nutrition ingredients, such as Siberian ginseng, spirulina, bilberry, chlorella, elderberry, goji, mangosteen, blueberry, maqui and pomegranate. Yet it’s currently available here on their website for $70 less than Balance of Nature and $48 less than Texas Superfood for the same 180 capsules.

They also shows third-party purity and safety testing results and certificates of analysis on their product pages. This really should be standard practice for supplement companies in 2026, but I couldn’t find the same safety tests on the Balance of Nature or Texas Superfood sites.

If you are open to taking a green powder instead of capsules then Field of Greens by BrickHouse Nutrition is another great alternative. It costs less, has much more potent superfoods, and a far bigger serving size. You can get it in a range of different flavors on their website. There’s also no charge delivery in the USA and a 60-day money-back guarantee.Texas superfoods green powder

Dosage and Directions

Texas Superfood recommends taking 6 capsules of their formula a day, preferably with food. There are 180 pills per bottle, so you get a 30-day supply if you take them as directed.

The Texas Superfood green powder comes in a 180-gram packet and the directions are to take 6 grams, or 1 heaped teaspoon, once a day for a month-long supply.

Balance of Nature suggests a daily dosage of 3 of the Veggies and 3 of the Fruits pills taken together with a glass of water.

It’s recommended to have them with breakfast or lunch for better nutrient absorption. This also helps avoid any negative side effects from taking them on an empty stomach.

Texas Superfood Side Effects and Precautions

Reported side effects from Texas Superfood are rare in customer feedback and consumer reviews. I found a few reports mentioning digestive upsets and changes in bowel movements. This may be due to the probiotics and enzymes in the formula.

With 55 different ingredients, there’s a slightly higher chance that some individuals will be sensitive or even allergic to one of the superfoods in this supplement. Allergic reactions happen quite quickly, usually within minutes of taking a product. If this happens, discontinue use, consult your physician, and apply for a refund.

Balance of Nature Potential Side Effects

The fruits and vegetables in Balance of Nature should not cause negative side effects for the vast majority of people.

Despite this, some consumers complain of digestive issues, like heartburn, an upset stomach, bad gas, and even diarrhea after taking Fruits & Veggies capsules.

People with soy allergy should not take the veggie pills due to the addition of raw soybean in the formula. Additionally, some doctors recommend that their patients avoid grapefruit, also found in these supplements, due to possible interactions with certain prescriptions.

There’s much more on Balance of Nature side effects here, including common negative reactions reported in consumer feedback and my own personal experience taking it for a month.

Personal Experience on Effectiveness

I’ve taken Balance of Nature myself for a month at the recommended 6 capsule daily dose. While I didn’t experience any negative side effects, I also didn’t notice many benefits, apart from perhaps a little extra energy compared to the week before with no supplementation.Texas Super Foods competitor Balance Nature Pills

I opened both the Veggies and the Fruits capsules at one point and tasted them. Having done this myself I do believe they are real freeze-dried whole foods. I just think they’re overpriced given the relatively average list of ingredients they contain.

Personally, I wouldn’t get Balance of Nature again. Field of Greens, which I started after Fruits & Veggies, was a much more noticeable boost and I really like the taste of it in my morning smoothies.
